Microsoft has also asked Mountain Measurement to perform psychometric test development tasks, such as forms assembly.

The Joint Research Committee (JRC) of Pearson VUE and The National Council of State Boards of Nursing has accepted Mountain Measurement's proposal entitled "A sampled and pooled approach to calculating average group performance." Mountain Measurement expects this research to validate the use of a new algorithm that redefines the estimation of average group performance. This method will allow Mountain Measurement to offer complete NCLEX® Program Reports to educational programs that have as few as 5 graduates testing within a reporting period.

The National Registry of EMTs is pleased to announce that the NREMT First Responder, Basic-EMT, Intermediate85-EMT, and Paramedic Certification Examinations are now being delivered as a Computerized Adaptive Tests through Pearson VUE. Mountain Measurement was responsible for the design of these CAT systems and will continue to provide psychometric consultation to the NREMT as the exams transition from the rollout to the stabilization phase.

The National Center on School Choice and the Northwest Evaluation Association have partnered with Mountain Measurement on a three year IES Research project pertaining to the governance, curriculum, and teaching practice in both public schools and schools of choice. Mountain Measurement will provide data support services by managing the data collection effort in all of the sample schools.

The National Council on Measurement in Education reports that Brian Bontempo will present two papers at this year's annual meeting. The first entitled "Time as a Variable" is co-authored with Marty McCall from the Northwest Evaluation Association. The second paper, entitled "A comparison of traditional and IRT based item quality criteria" is co-authored by Jerry Gorham from Pearson VUE. Both papers will be presented on Saturday April 8, 2006 in San Francisco, CA.

Pearson VUE is partnering with Mountain Measurement to provide the NCLEX® Program Reports for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. Beginning in the Fall 2005, semi-annually, Mountain Measurement will provide subscribing nursing education programs with detailed information on the performance of their program's graduates on the NCLEX® examinations. Mountain Measurement expects to convert the reports to electronic format and enhance the level of service provided to subscribers.

Brian D. Bontempo, Ph.D., Mountain Measurement's Principal Consultant has begun serving as the Psychometrician for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Between now and Jan 1, 2007, Dr. Bontempo will lead the psychometric design and development of a Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) system that will assess the competency of thousands of newly trained First Responders, EMT-Basics, EMT-Intermediates, and Paramedics from around the United States.

Mountain Measurement is proud to be part of a research team that has recently been awarded a grant by the The National Science Foundation. The project, Feedbacks Between Urban Systems and the Environment" (FUSE) seeks to understand how the components of the urban atmospheric environment interact. One goal of the project will be to develop a model that can be used to forecast human interaction with the urban atmospheric environment during episodes of extreme heat and poor air quality.
